Man, 35, faces trial for allegedly trafficking in metaphetamine

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) on Monday, charged a 35- year-old man, Ibraheem Folarin, before a Federal High Court in Lagos over alleged drug trafficking.

The defendant is standing trial on a two-count charge of unlawfully dealing in metaphetamine and cannabis, which are restricted narcotics

The Prosecutor, Mr. Jeremiah Aernan, alleged that the accused committed the offence on Nov. 29, 2021.

He said that he was arrested at a hotel in the Isheri area of Ikotun, Lagos, following investigations.

The prosecutor said  two grams of metaphetamine and three grams of cannabis were recovered from the accused.

He said that he was subsequently taken into custody.

According to the prosecution, the offence contravenes the provision of Section 11(c) of the NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.

The charge has been assigned to Justice Ayokunle Faji but no date has been fixed for the hearing. (NAN)
