A 40-year-old man, Olaniyan Olanrewaju, on Monday, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly hitting a woman on her eye.
Olanrewaju, whose address was not provided, was charged with assault.
He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Olalekan Adegbite, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 2, at about 11.00 p.m, at Ido, Ibadan.
Adegbite alleged that the defendant hit one Mrs Anuoluwapo Tiamiyu on the left side of her eye, which caused the eye to swell.
He said the offence contravenes Section 355 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 and one surety in like sum.
She adjourned the case until July 7, for hearing. (NAN).
