Man, 47, docked for allegedly stealing mobile phones

The police on Monday arraigned a 47-year-old man, Bukky Toba, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court Ibadan, for allegedly stealing two mobile phones from a woman.

Toba, whose address was not provided was charged with obtaining phone under false pretence and stealing.

He, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecutor, CPL David Adepoju told the court that the defendant committed the offences on May 4, at about 9.00 a.m., at Top One Garden Podo area of Ibadan.

Adepoju alleged that the defendant obtained one Samsung phone worth N200,000 and another Tecno phone worth N15,000, belonging to one Mrs Folashade Manjenta.

Adepoju said that the defendant obtained the phones with the pretext of helping Manjenta to charge the phones.

He said the defendant rather made away with the phones.

The offences contravened provisions of Sections 390(9) and 419 of the Criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Kausarat Ayofe, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200,000 and two sureties in like sum.

She adjourned the case until July 21, for hearing. (NAN)
