Jos, Jan. 19, 2026 (NAN) An Area Court in Jos on Monday, sentenced one Destiny Okopi, to six months imprisonment, for deceit and stealing the sum of N60, 000.
The judge, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
The judge however gave the convict an option of fine of N30, 000.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp ijuptil Daniel, told the court that the case was reported at the Nasarawa Gwong Police Station, on Nov. 25, 2025, by Mr Emmanuel Israel, the complainant.
Daniel said that the Israel told the police that the now convict went to his shop and deceived his salesperson by telling her that he sent him to get the sum of N60, 000.
He said that during police investigation, the now convict confessed to have committed the offence and the money was found in his possession.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria, 2017. (NAN)
