Pace Setters Integrated Social Intervention Initiative, a Non Governmental Organization (NGO) has empowered 28 adolescents in its Teens Empowerment Literacy Tribe (TELT) programme.
Mrs Tessy Ozobialu, its founder, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos on Wednesday .
Ozobialu said that TELT, was one of the flagship projects of the NGO aimed at equipping adolescents with knowledge, life skills, and support they needed to thrive in an increasingly complex world.
According to her, the project creates a safe and interactive learning environment, where teenagers are empowered to build resilience, develop positive values, strengthen their emotional wellbeing, and acquire practical skills for personal growth and future opportunities.
“Between February and June, TELT has engaged 28 adolescents in a series of life-building sessions that focused on mental health resilience, decision-making, time management, emotional regulation, responsible social media use, and managing adolescent impulses.
“Through facilitated discussions, presentations, and peer learning activities, participants explored practical approaches to overcoming everyday challenges, making informed choices, building healthy relationships, and navigating adolescence with confidence.
“Recognizing the importance of economic empowerment, the project also incorporated a practical lip balm production and branding training, introducing participants to basic entrepreneurship and vocational skills.
“The hands-on experience encouraged creativity, teamwork, and innovation while exposing the teenagers to simple income-generating opportunities that can foster self-reliance.”
Ozobialu said that beyond the learning sessions, TELT continued to provide a supportive space where young people could freely express themselves, ask questions, and receive guidance from experienced facilitators and mentors.
She also said that to encourage consistent participation and reduce barriers to attendance, transportation support were available during programme sessions.
She added that through the TELT, the NGO would continually invest in the holistic development of adolescents (NAN).
