Abuja, Nigeria, February 4, 2024: Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has issued a directive to reactivate the Police Smartforce Database System, underscoring his commitment to the digitalization of the Nigerian Police Force. The move aims to capture and store detailed information about all officers, streamlining administrative processes, facilitating tracking of postings and transfers, and issuing Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) cards for personnel identification.
The reactivation of the Smartforce Database System is a crucial step in IGP Egbetokun’s vision to leverage cutting-edge technology and artificial intelligence (AI) for a more efficient and responsive police force. The integrated system, equipped with modern technology and state-of-the-art appliances, will significantly reduce reliance on manual and cumbersome administrative methods, ensuring effective management of the police workforce.
The primary objective of this digital initiative is to enhance competence and improve service delivery in all areas of policing. The Inspector General emphasises the importance of a smooth administrative management system for the Nigeria Police Force, aligning with the broader vision of a technologically advanced and responsive law enforcement agency.
In reaffirming his commitment to a police force driven by the integration of technology and AI, the Inspector General has ordered the immediate commencement of the digitalization process across all Commands and Formations of the Force. He has charged all officers to enroll in the digitalization process at their respective commands and formations nationwide.
The implementation of the Smartforce Database System is expected to bring about a transformative shift in administrative efficiency, marking a significant stride towards a more modern and effective policing system in Nigeria.
