The Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Mr. Olakunle Oluomo, has lauded the role of religious bodies in promoting unity and development in the country.
Oluomo stated this while receiving the leadership of Cherubim and Seraphim Unification Church of Nigeria, led by its Supreme Head, Prophet Solomon Alao, during a courtesy visit at the Assembly in Abeokuta.
The speaker said that their moral teachings had continued to reinforce patriotism and nation building.
Oluomo also acknowledged the prayers of religious leaders, which he noted had contributed to the promotion of peace and tranquility in the nation.
He tasked both Muslim and Christian leaders in their respective capacities to continue to promote the teachings and other inter-religious activities that would further strengthen the bonds of friendship and unity among residents.
Commending the administrative style of the church’s leadership for planning its 92nd annual general conference to be held in the state,
Oluomo implored the clergyman to continue to offer prayers and advice to the political class.
Earlier, Alao described the legislative arm of government as the hallmark of democracy, and solicited sustained mutual relationship between all arms of government towards achieving national development for more prosperity for all citizenry.
He noted that Nigeria was a secular nation, with multiple ethnicities and religions, and stressed the importance of peaceful coexistence, unity and harmony in achieving sustained growth in the country.
The clergyman extolled the uniqueness of Ogun state, stressing that there was need for more prayers to complement all development-focused policies of government at all levels. (NAN)
