Osinbajo to lead youth dialogue on sustainable prosperity

The Vice-President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, is to lead in a dialogue with African youths on driving sustainable prosperity in the continent.

Mrs. Chinwe Okoli, Executive Director of the Grand Africa Initiative (GAIN) made the announcement in a statement e-mailed to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Abuja on Monday.

Okoli said that the GAIN Youth Summit was designed to deepen discourse on strategies to unleash the economic potential of young Africans to sustainable prosperity.

“We are grateful that the vice-president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria could find time to join and dialogue with young Africans on this important topic.

“The issues around restiveness, conflict, illegal migration we believe are fueled by a lack of economic opportunities.”

Okoli, who reiterated the need for sustainable prosperity in Africa, said that a lack of economic opportunities were driven by lack of awareness and support for entrepreneurship and innovations across the continent

She said that the summit would be used to proffer solutions to the challenges with the right partnership.

The executive director said that the chief executive officer of the Tony Elumelu Foundation would deliver a keynote speech on: “Integration and Synergy to Unlock Scale and Value of Youth Entrepreneurship in Africa”.

According to her, other speakers include Catriona Laing, British High Commissioner to Nigeria and Mr. Thami Mseleku, South African High Commissioner to Nigeria.

Others are Dr. Januario Quibato, the Angolan Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Humphrey Geiseb, Namibian High Commissioner to Nigeria and Prof. Ndubuisi Ekekwe, the Faculty Lead of Tekedia Institute.

NAN reports that the GAIN Youth Summit is an annual gathering of African youths from across the continent and the diaspora, focused on developing entrepreneurships.

The summit focuses on innovation, professional and academic capacities in young Africans in a way that helps to tackle the menace of youth unemployment and conflicts in the continent.

The summit holds from Oct. 29 to Oct. 30 with theme: The Africa We Want: Nexus between the Youth, Peace and Entrepreneurship. (NAN).
