Kwara Para-soccer team on Wednesday in Abuja hammered their Sokoto counterpart 10-1 in the ongoing maiden edition of the International Disabled Day Para-soccer Championship.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that in the fourth match of day two proceedings, Neynar Sabo scored seven goals to show his experience in the game.
In the match played at the Old Parade ground, Salyaman Yusuf of Kwara opened scoring in the eighth minute.
Sabo scored the second goal two minutes later, he scores the third goals in 23rd minute, Joshua scored the fourth goal in the 27th minute.
Sabo scores the fifth goal in 30the minute to end the first half.
Sokoto players fought hard but were unable to utilise all their scoring chances.
On the resumption of the second half, Sabo continue scored the sixth and seventh goals in the 45th and 46th minutes.
Lawali Moho scored the only goal for Sokoto in the 4thth minute.
Joshua registered his second goal to make the eight goals of the game, while Sabo finally scored the ninth and 10th goals in 51st and 54th minutes.
Speaking after the match, Coach Ezekiel Ajiwole from Kwara state said his players displayed a wonderful performance in their first game.
“My target for the event is that we are going for the gold by God’s grace.
“I will continue to encourage may players to be focused in their remaining games.
“We will go back to the drawing board and do some corrections to have a win against Katsina in our next game,” he said.
On his part, the coach of Sokoto team, Aliyu Mohammed, said his team did well even though they lost their game.
“My players lost their game because some of them sustained injury which affected their performance.
“Fatigue is also another factor that affected their performance during the game.
“We have our first game in the morning and the second game this evening they did not have enough time to rest.
“I need to improve in our defensive area because that is where most of the problems are. Our defence cannot give us the ball to our attackers.
“We must go back and restrategise against our next game on Thursday,” he said.
NAN reports that in the other match played, Katsina trashed Sokoto 11-0 in the first match.
In the second game, Zamfara beat Ajanaku Foundation of Lagos 3-1 and in the third game, Nasarawa beat Kebbi 10-2.
A total of 10 teams are participating in the maiden edition of the competition. They are drawn into three groups.
Group A — Kano, Zamfara and Ajanaku foundation from Lagos.
In Group B — Nasarawa, Plateau, Kebbi and FCT, while group C is made up of Katsina, Sokoto and Kwara teams.
The championship, which started on Tuesday is expected to end on Thursday. (NAN)
