Nigerian singer Patrick Okoye, popularly known as Patoranking, has been contacted to join a select number of musicians for a re-make of Raggae icon Bob Marley’s 1977 classic, ‘One Love’.

Patoranking, who was contacted by the United Nations’ International Children’s Fund (UNICEF), will join Bob Marley’s daughter Cedella Marley, Skip Marley, New Zealand’s singer Teeks and other musicians from other countries for a global project aimed at raising funds to support children in developing countries where help is urgently needed, the fund said on Friday.

The fund said the choice was based on the uniqueness of Patoranking’s sound, as well as his blend of African music and Reggae/Dancehall.

“His sound is distinct and easily recognisable in modern African music.”

An elated Patoranking took to his Instagram page to announced: “ONE LOVE by Bob Marley means a lot to me and to be on this new version alongside the Marley Family and others in support of @unicef’s coronavirus relief is an incredible honour”.
