The Wike-led faction of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has cleared aspirants vying for the House of Representatives and senatorial elections in Gombe State.
This is contained in a statement by Mohammed Adamu, Chairman of the Screening Committee, on Thursday in Gombe.
He said the committee screened and approved the candidates to contest election in their respective constituencies.
Adamu listed the senatorial candidates to include Ibrahim Dankwambo for Gombe-North; Anthony Yaro for Gombe-South, and Aliyu Hammadu for Gombe-Central.
Dankwambo and Yaro secured return tickets for the party, respectively.
Those screened for the lower chamber of the National Assembly, include Gidado Lawanti – Akko Federal Constituency; Mohammed Lamido – Dukku/Nafada constituency, and Obed Shehu – Kaltungo/Shongom constituency.
Others are Nasir Ibrahim – Gombe/Kwami/Funakaye constituency, Shu’aibu Galadima – Yamaltu/Deba constituency, and Rambi Ayala – Balanga/Billiri constituency.
“We are directed to forward to the National Organizing Secretary the list of screened aspirants from Gombe State for the posts of Senate and House of Representatives,” he said.
According to Adamu, the exercise marks a key step towards ensuring a transparent and credible primary election process for the legislative contests. (NAN)
