The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Youth Leader has come under fire for being “incompetent,clueless and bereft of ideas”.
The barb was thrown by the PDP Integrity Youth League (PDP-IYL) via a statement released in Abuja on Sunday.
The statement,signed by the six leaders of the group,vis:South-South Leader of the group, Comrade Udoh Victor Nse; North-central coordinator, Mallam Bala Shuaibu Mohammed; South-west coordinator, Shamsudeen Nurudeen Kaisem; South-east coordinator, Mazi Francis Nnamah; North-west coordinator, Mohammed Abubakar and Northeast coordinator, Comrade Peter Mamza, wondered why the party’s youth arm,which should be its most vibrant, was sitting docile.
“Whether opposition or the ruling, every party has a vibrant directorate for its youth arm.
“The youth arm of every party is its engine room,its think-tank and the place where future party leaders are steeped in party philosophy and begat.
“Given the 21st Century scenario, every party should trust its youth arm to be vibrant on social media,whipping up support,brimming with new ideas and mobilising support for every party activity.
On April 27, 2015, the National Youth Leader of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Abdullahi Hussaini Maibasira,was vibrant enough and could read the signs of the time.
“Unfortunately, the current National Youth Leader, SKE Udeh Okoye, has failed in leading the PDP youth structure to hold the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government accountable for all the fraudulent,smoke-in-the-air youth empowerment programmes and the bogus claim of having distributed COVID-19 palliatives.The National Youth Leaders has remained embarassingly silent.”
The group wondered why Okoye was not raising dust over the cluelessness of the current APC-led administration and its many unpopular approaches to leadership.
“Our dear National Youth Leader is not holding this regime accountable for all its unlawful arrest and detention of youths who dare to speak up and oppose its clueless and repugnant style of leadership.
“The National Youth Leader has demonstrated a monumental lack of capacity, gross incompetency, inefficiency and poor understanding of the functions of the office of a National Youth Leader of a political party in this 21st Century.
“We, the PDP Integrity Youth League (PDP-IYL), as legitimate loyal party faithful, make bold to assert that our National Youth Leader is a permanent absentee in the political arena. This evidence is his non-performance, non-generation of ideas for youth activities and non availability to interface with youths.
“In the interest of our great party and our pride, it is time to call the National Youth Leader to show some sign of life and activity and stand up to his responsibilities.”
The group further berated the Southeast for producing someone who has made the region and the party a “laughing stock”.
“We call on the South-east youth structure to chastise itself by questioning its leaders who presented an incompetent young man to mis-represent them and make the national youth directorate a laughing stock.
“It behoves on the party to make a statement and a decision.A stitch in time saves nine,” the statement finished.
