Police arraign 2 men for allegedly stealing pumping machine

Abuja, Feb.26, 2026 (NAN) The Police have arraigned two men in a Life Camp Chief Magistrates’ Court on Thursday in Abuja for allegedly stealing a pumping machine and two pressure pumps.

The defendants, Abba Musa 29  of Jabi ; and Joel Nana, 34, of Karmo are standing trial on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, criminal trespass and stealing.

The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Prosecuting Counsel, Charity Nwachukwu, told the court that a complainant, one Mrs  Chinenye Izedi and Mr Suleman Umar, of finance quarters Wuye Abuja, reported the matter at the Wuye Police Station on Jan.18.

Nwachukwu alleged that the defendants criminally conspired and trespassed into the complainant’s premises without the consent of anyone.

She alleged that the defendants intentionally entered into the complainant’s compound and dishonesty made away with their pumping machine valued N120,000, two pressure pumps valued N119,00 and cable wires worth N60,000.

The prosecuting counsel said the defendants were caught on Closed Circuit Television (CCTV), and during police investigation and interrogation, they made confessional statements.

According to her, the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 97, 348 and 287 of the Penal Code.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Musa Jobbo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Jobbo ordered that the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction, and should produce reliable means of identification.

He adjourned the case until March 26 for hearing. (NAN)
