The Police in Lagos on Thursday arraigned an 18-year-old man, Chinacherem Amechi, before a Badagry Magistrates’ Court, over alleged stealing of Techno phone valued at N30,000.
The defendant whose address was unknown faced a one-count charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, ASP. Clement Okuiomose said that the defendant committed the offence on Oct.5, at about 11:00p.m., at the front gate of Ajara Grammar School, Badagry area of Lagos.
Okuiomose said that the defendant allegedly stole one Techno phone Pop 3 valued at N30,000.
“The defendant was caught by the police team on patrol when the complainant, one Israel Ayankanmi, called for assistance.
“The offence contravened the provision of Section 287 of the Criminal code, Law of Lagos, 2015,” said the prosecutor.
The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge levelled against him.
The Judge, Mr. Fadaunsi Adefioye granted the defendant bail in the sum of N30,000 with one surety in like sum.
Adefioye ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and be gainfully employed with an evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The chief magistrate adjourned the case until Nov.11 for further hearing. (NAN)
