
The Police in Lagos on Monday arraigned a 22-year-old man, Abubakar Adamu, in an Ikeja Magistrates’ Court for allegedly stealing goods worth N4 million, including some animals, from his employer.
The defendant, a poultry worker who resides in the Iboto Adamo area of Ikorodu, Lagos, is being tried for conspiracy and stealing.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Innocent Odugbo, told the court that the offences were committed between December 2023 and January at Celebylowrange Farms, Ikorodu, Lagos.
Odugbo alleged that the defendant stole a motor cycle valued at N600,000, solar power cables valued at N150,000, a pumping machine valued at N120,000, an iPhone 8 valued at N300,000, and some farm equipment valued at N4 million.
He also alleged that the defendant stole some chickens, a goose, two goats, two ducks, and four crates of eggs, all property of Celebylowrange Farms.
The prosecutor said that the offences contravened the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The magistrate, Mrs. M. F. Onamusi, granted the defendant bail for N250,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Onamusi adjourned the case until March 20 for mention. (NAN)
