President of Edo Progressive Indigenes Association (EPIA), Dr John
Edokpolo has warned that the Peoples’ Democratic Party(PDP) will be
biting more than it could chew if the February 14 presidential
elections is rigged.
Edokpolo, who recently joined the All Progressives Congress in Edo
State, told newsmen that he is presently campaigning for the APC
because the president has underperformed.
The motivational speaker rated President Jonathan’s performance under
5, and said that there was no reason whatsoever why the present
government should be supported by any right-thinking Nigerian to
continue. According to him, the APC will go to any length to defend it
votes if there is a case of rigging.
He also rated presidential aspirant General Muhammadu Buhari high,
wondering why opposition parties are scared of him. He said: “In a
scale of 1 to 10, the president is under 5. That is very poor in my
rating. If you look at the three major hubs that every economy
strives on, the economic, security, and also empowerment, you realize
that the president has scored less than five. The security situation
right now is in turmoil, and we can say that the nation is in a
catastrophic state. This is the first time we are seeing these kind of
terrorist activities being carried out by some group of sect. that the
sitting president is not able to take a major action to eliminate the
insurgence. Also, if you want to compare the sitting president with
the aspiring, you realize that there is a genuine plan based on
pre-existing records. The current president is a minus, not a plus. 99
percent of Nigerians will agree that if you want to take decisions
outside bipartisanship, they would agree that this president is zero
in terms of security”.
On Buhari, he revealed: “If you place consequences of corruption
there, people will be dissuaded from committing it. This is the only
man who, during his administration, declared war against corruption.
Moreover, this is a man who has introduced ideologies which more than
six presidents or heads of state have always tapped on. Like the
environmental sanitation, all the administrations that have succeeded
him see it as a credible ideology that they must maintain. Till date,
we are still practicing it. That is an ideology from Buhari. There is
also the War Against Indiscipline. You and I will agree that the
primary problem we are having in this society is indiscipline. If
there is decency, you and I will not be complaining of equal rights or
corruption. When he came to Edo State, he made one fundamental
statement. That in a society where it is okay for you to put your hand
in your pocket and give police officers money, how do you expect that
police officer to checkmate crime? To do his job and eliminate crime
on a daily basis?”
He continued: “The only way they can declare Jonathan winner is if
they rig the elections. Moreover, you heard the APC that has been
saying that if the other party rigs the election, they will form a
parallel government. As they are preparing their
negative weapons, that is how the APC is preparing to defend their
votes. And they are preparing for their own government. I foresee two
governments if there is rigging”.
