A new speaker for the Taraba State House of Assembly, has again emerged after the resignation of the former speaker, Rt. Hon Mark Bako Useni. The resignation of the speaker was based on personal reasons, as no reason was given by him as regard why he has decided to step aside as the leader of the House. The former speaker, it would be recalled that the former speaker of the House emerged last month following the nullification of the election of the then speaker by the Appeal Court in Yola, the capital of Adamawa state. Before the nullification of his election which led to the conduct of fresh elections in some of the polling units in Mbamnga Constituency of Sardauna Council, Diah, it would also recall was the speaker of the House. Expressing his willingness to resign, the former speaker, Mark B. Iseni, said he has decided to resigned as the House speaker based on personal ground stating that " I have decided to willingly resigned as the speaker of the Taraba state House of Assembly. On his own part, the Clerk of the House, Ismailu Ukwen Tentason, who would not want the seat to be left vacant went ahead to cite order 2 Rule 2 of the House, immediately declared the speakership position vacant, and further went ahead to call for a nomination of a new speaker by the members. On assuming his sit, the resigned speaker, as noticed by our correspondent, wasted on time in nominating Abel Peter Diah, as a perfect replacement. His nomination which was seconded by the member representing Zing constituency, as witnessed by our reporter was unanimously supported by the entire members of the House. In a chat with media practitioners, on the development, the House Committee Chairman on Information, Saleh Sa'ad, said the decision of the speaker was based on personal reason and that the House was left with no any other option than to respect his decision. Collaborating the clerk, he said the members decided to swing into action by appointing a new speaker in order not to allow activities of the House to drag. Contrary to speculation, Sa'ad told newsmen that there is no rancor in the House, stating that the members have being working as a one United family, and would continue to work as a team for the interest of the electorates and the entire people of the state. In an interview with our reporter, the new speaker reiterated his readiness to carry all the members along irrespective of political party affiliations. Diah, who showered praises on the former speaker, by describing him as a man of integrity, the former speaker, according to Diah "he is a leader to the core, he has brought in many changes to the House, and since he has decided to resign, the House, under my leadership, would still hold him in high esteem." Mean while, the House has adjoined for a long vacation to reconvene on the 4th of April,2016.
