A 65-year-old woman, Yetunde Olajuwon was on Tuesday arraigned in Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos for allegedly assaulting her landlord.
The defendant is charged with assault, malicious damage and threat to life.
Olajuwon, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Insp Edet Ekpo, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 30, at about 4.30.p.m, at No 1, Marlley Close Ibasa-Nla, Iyana-Era, Ijanikin, Lagos.
Ekpo said that the defendant held her landlord, Mr Emmanuel Marlley, in a chokehold.
“The defendant maliciously damaged the floor tiles, keys, water closet cover, floor to the entrance, sockets, electrical wires and change over box valued at N450,000.
“The defendant threatened to kill her landlord,” the prosecution said.
The offence, the prosecution said, contravened the provisions of Sections 172, 350 and 232 of the Criminal Law of Lagos state, 2015,” he said.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr N A Layeni, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N300,000 with two sureties in like sum.
He said that one of the sureties should be gainfully employed while other should be a civil servant.
Layeni adjourned the case until June 6, for hearing. (NAN)
