Jos, Jan. 26, 2026 (NAN) A Magistrate’s Court in Jos on Monday sentenced a 23-year-old trader, Yusuf Musa to two years in prison for mischief and causing hurt.
The Magistrate, Irene Pati, sentenced the convict, who pleaded guilty to the two-count charge.
Pati, however, gave the convict an option of fine N30, 000 for mischief or one year imprisonment, and N40, 000 for causing hurt or another one year in prison.
She said both sentences are run concurrently.
She ordered the convict to pay a compensation of N120, 000 to the complainant in default or spend another five months in prison.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ijuptil Thiawur told the court that the case was reported on Nov. 29, 2025 at the “C” Division Police Station by one Saratu Jacob and Emmanuel Kelechi, the complainants.
Thiawur said that the complainants told the police that the now convict threw stone at them and broke their windscreen and also caused a head injury to one of the complainants.
He said that the offence contravened the Plateau Penal Code Law. (NAN)
