An Area Court in Jos, on Monday sentenced a trader, James Linus, to six months in prison for stealing a water pump, weighing scale and an armoured cable.
A panel of two magistrates, Ghazali Adam and Hyacinth Dolnaan, sentenced Linus after he pleaded guilty to theft.
The panel, however, gave him an option of paying N20,000 as fine.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel Insp, Monday Dabit, told the court that the case was reported on April 20, at the Anglo-Jos Police Station, by one Kelvin Adam.
Dabit said that Linus went to a factory and stole the items worth N100,000.
The offence, he said, is punishable under the provisions of Section 273 of the Plateau Penal Code. (NAN)
