The Chairman of Gwarzo Local Government Area in Kano State, Dr Mani Tsoho, has said that violence and vandalism of public facilities would never solve the security challenges facing the area.
Tsoho made the statement on Monday in Gwarzo while inspecting the section of the council secretariat set ablaze by hoodlums on Sunday during a protest over rising insecurity in the area.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the chairman convened an emergency security meeting with agencies operating in the area following the incident.
He warned that destroying government facilities was unacceptable and would not be allowed to derail the local government’s progress.
“We will not allow enemies of progress to destroy Gwarzo.
“The public institutions exist to serve the people and should never become targets of violence,” the chairman noted.
He acknowledged residents’ frustration over the recent wave of insecurity but stressed that violence, arson, and vandalism offer no solutions to the menace.
The chairman urged residents, especially youths, to remain law-abiding and support government and security agencies in restoring peace and stability.
During the inspection, Tsoho assessed offices, documents, equipment, and other property damaged by the fire.
He assured staff and residents that immediate steps would be taken to rehabilitate the structures and restore normal operations at the secretariat.
The chairman also sympathized with council staff and residents over the incident.
Tsoho reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with security agencies and stakeholders to protect lives and property. (NAN)
