VON, NITDA rekindle partnership in telling Nigeria’s stories
The Voice of Nigeria (VON) and. the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have rekindled their partnership in telling Nigerian and African stories to the world.
The Director-General, Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, disclosed this on Friday when he led his management team on a courtesy visit to NITDA headquarters in Abuja.
According to Ndace, whatever the government’s ministries, departments, and agencies are doing, if they don’t tell the stories, nobody will tell them for them.
“Those innovations and opportunities that NITDA is creating for younger people to be able to live their dreams and embrace technology are for public good, not for the destruction of our country.
“I want to congratulate Abdullahi that President Bola Tinubu also saw the good work he had done and decided to renew his mandate.
“I want to urge the management and members of staff of NITDA to continue to support Abdullahi because this institution is not about him but about our country.
“I am here as a partner. VON wants to deepen the partnership that existed with NITDA, which I inherited as a DG,” he said
Ndace said that VON broadcast in eight languages: four local and four international, adding that he and his management team were looking at the possibility of adding more international and local languages.
The VON boss also stated that the organisation now has the capacity to broadcast live from any location in the world on convergence platforms and is also trying to ensure that VON’s traditional platform is also strong.
“That is where NITDA comes in. I want to thank NITDA for all the support given to VON. Our job is to tell the Nigerian story.
“One of the things that NITDA is doing that we need to amplify is giving young people the opportunity to excel in the ICT space. You should also look at supporting the private media,” he said
On his part, NITDA boss, Mr. Kashifu Abdullahi, appreciated Ndace and his management team for the visit and kind words.
He narrated the impact of the agency on several government ministries, departments, agencies, and state governments across the country.
Abdullahi promised to continue to support VON to deliver on its mandate of telling Nigerian and African stories to the world. (NAN)
