Mr Chinonso Okeke, President,Enugwu-Ukwu community Youth Council has urged youths nationwide to seek alternative ways of showing disapproval of the economic challenges they were facing.

Okeke made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria ( NAN) on Friday in Enugwu-Ukwu, Njikoka Local Government Area of Anambra State.

He said though young people in the country were facing socio-economic challenges, the best option to seek redress was not through street protests, destruction and looting.

“Some of the policies of t government might not have met public expectations,  but  street protests, looting, destruction and killings won’t effect the required change.

“Instead of protesting in the street, it is time for us to work hard to promote a new value vystem by upgrading in our divers life endeavors/skills’’, he said.

He said as leaders of tomorrow youths should always consider the long term implications of their social choices in seeking change in the society.

“Are taking better alternatives such as value-addition? It is the language of value that shapes the world not the language of protest.

“It is the language of value that can inspire us to take the right actions that will move us to greater heights not the language of protest’’, Okeke told NAN.

He said it was important for young persons to utilise the opportunities around them, including those provided by governments, to develop themselves.

Okeke urged youths to think outside the box, embrace information and communication technology, agriculture and depend less on government. (NAN)
