Kaduna Jan. 13, 2026 (NAN) The Chairman, Zangon Kataf Local Government Area, Mr Bege Joseph-Gaiya, has accepted the retraction and apology issued by Mr Tagwai Julius-Shehu over allegation of diversion of funds meant for Christmas celebration.

This is contained in a statement by Philip Collins, the new media aid and strategic communication to the chairman, issued to Newsmen on Tuesday in Kaduna.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the apology followed a statement published by Julius-Shehu on Jan. 5, alleging that the chairman diverted funds approved by Kaduna State Governor for Christmas.

However, Julius-Shehu later withdrew the allegation after failing to provide evidence to security agencies and publicly apologised for the publication.

In his retraction, Julius-Shehu said: “I, Tagwai Julius Shehu, wish to retract my post published on Jan. 5, and to apologise for any misgivings it might have caused the Chairman of Zangon Kataf LGA, Bege Gaiya. The general public should take note.”

Responding, Joseph-Gaiya said, he had accepted the retraction and apology in good faith, reiterating his commitment to transparency, accountability and even development across the local government area.

He urged members of the public to disregard the earlier allegation, describing it as unfounded, and called for continued support for his administration.

The chairman also cautioned youths against allowing themselves to be used by politicians to foment trouble or fuel political crises.

Joseph-Gaiya thanked the residents of the council for their trust and support, assuring them of his dedication to integrity and selfless service. (NAN)
