The police in Asaba on Friday, dragged two men before an Asaba Magistrates’ court for allegedly stealing a Tecno Povo phone.
The defendants are Ikeh Samuel, 35; and Solomon Okafor, 19.
The duo are standing trial on a one count charge of theft.
They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor, Insp. Ifeayinwa Uwakah told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 21, at Abraka Market in Asaba.
She alleged that the defendants stole a Tecno phone belonging to one Mrs Ginika Ishima, while it was plugged to charge.
The phone is valued N150,000.
The offence contravenes the provisions of section 390(9) of the Criminal Law of Delta State, 2006.
The Magistrate, Mrs Edith Anumodu, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
She ordered that the sureties must reside in Asaba, and must provide two passport photographs, and valid means of identification.
The court adjourned the case until July 7, for hearing.(NAN)
