3 students docked over alleged membership of unlawful societies

Ibadan, Feb.17, 2026 (NAN) Three students, Olatunji David, Fawas Oladimeji, and Oluwanifemi Sekoni,  of Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki, on Tuesday, appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly belonging to unlawful societies.

David, 22, Oladimeji, 22 and Sekoni, 25, are standing trial on a five-count charge bordering on conspiracy, belonging to unlawful society and causing a breach of peace.

They each, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The prosecutor, Insp Adeshina Folaranmi, told the court that the defendants committed the offences on Jan. 7 at about 3.00 p.m. at the Institution’s premises.

He alleged that the defendants belonged to unlawful societies known as ‘Aiye and Alora’ confraternity.

The prosecutor alleged that the defendants disturbed the peace of other students when they carried out their activities at  the polytechnic.

The offences contravene the provisions of sections 64(a), 249(d) and 516 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho, granted the defendants bail in the sum of one million naira each, with two sureties each in like sum.

Osho ordered that one of the sureties must be a blood relation with the same surname of the defendants.

The court adjourned the case until April 21, for mention. (NAN)
