5 docked for allegedly obstructing government enforcement officials

Ibadan, Jan.29, 2026 (NAN) Five persons were on Thursday docked at an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly obstructing the work of government enforcement officials.

 

They are: Adeyeye Abayomi, 45, Chinedu Benjamin, 44, Samuel Adamu, 44, Oluwapelumi Kolawole, 28 and Grace Victor, 58.

 

The defendants were arraigned on a five -count charge bordering on conspiracy and unlawful obstruction, to which they pleaded not guilty.

 

The Prosecutor, Insp. Adeshina Folaranmi told the court that the defendants committed the offences in July 2025, at Akala, Alesinloye and Oluyole areas of Ibadan.

 

He alleged that the defendants unlawfully obstructed enforcement officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Agriculture from carrying out their duties.

 

According to him, the defendants prevented the Private Veterinary Premises Regulation Enforcement committee from enforcing the law as established in 2017.

 

He said the defendants also allegedly damaged the seal of the Oyo State Government worth N200,000, adding that they conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause the breach of peace.

 

Folaranmi said the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 197, 203, 249(d), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.

 

The Magistrate, Mrs Oluwabusayo Osho granted the defendants bail in the sum of N500,000 each and two sureties each in like sum.

 

She adjourned the case until March 26 for hearing. (NAN)
