Gov. Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe State

According to Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya, President Bola Tinubu’s administration is developing policies and programs with the governors of the 36 states to alleviate the nation’s current suffering.

Yahaya made this statement in Gombe on Wednesday after receiving multiple awards for his exceptional leadership and commitment to good governance in Gombe State, along with other MDAs.

He stated that the current hardship being experienced by Nigerians was as a result of the mistakes made by past administrations.

According to him,the failure of leadership in the past to take difficult but necessary decisions accumulated into hardship that Nigerians are now facing.

“For those who do not know, Nigeria is essentially starting from minus forty-five years ago, not even zero, and we are paying for the mistakes made during that time.”

ā€œWe overlooked some of the decisions, no matter how tough, that we should have taken but did not.

ā€œNow, we have reached the peak of that neglect and carelessness and we are paying for it.

ā€œThings may get tougher and I believe you all know that tough times are even ahead, but with prayers and determination, we will be able to overcome,ā€ he said.

Yahaya said that President Tinubu was aware of the prevailing economic challenges and the hardships faced by citizens and working to ensure a better future for the country.

The governor urged Nigerians to be patient and support the current administration with prayers to bring the country out of its current state.

ā€œI want to urge us all to stand firm and fight harder because the times are not easy and it takes longer time to repair the mistake than the time it took to be damaged.

ā€œWe need to brace up, tighten up and add more energy to fight and see that we are through and take this nation back to its feet,ā€ he said.

Yahaya expressed gratitude to his team members for their assistance and collaboration in putting into practice revolutionary policies and initiatives that led to Gombe State’s advancement and good governance.

ā€œI am delighted to receive these awards; whenever I am honoured in this way, I don’t view it as an individual recognition, but rather a recognition of our collective efforts as members of my administration.

ā€œI am grateful to each of you for your support and genuine dedication to realising our shared goals and fulfilling the mandate entrusted to us by the people of Gombeā€, he said.

The governor received awards in a variety of categories, such as peace and security, education, e-governance, good governance, and Hajj performance.

The awards were presented to the governor by his deputy, Dr. Manassah Jatau.

The awards presented include The Sun Newspaper Governor of the Year 2023, The Telegraph Newspaper Governor of the Year (Education ).

The Best State in Nigeria for e-governance and Geographic Information System, as well as the Best Supporting Governor for Hajj Operations, are among the others.(NAN
