The Accord Party in Osun has said its candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly will emerge through consensus during its primaries scheduled for May 29.

The state Chairman of the party, Mr Victor Akande, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Osogbo.

Akande said the party’s structures across the three senatorial districts and nine federal constituencies had endorsed aspirants for the consensus arrangement.

He said that a former Chairman of the Osun State Universal Basic Education Board (OSUBEB), Mr Ibukun Fadipe, had emerged as the preferred aspirant for Osun East Senatorial District.

According to him, a former Commissioner for Rural Affairs in the state, Mr Gani Olaoluwa, was endorsed for Osun Central Senatorial District, while Sen. Lere Oyewumi was endorsed for re-election in Osun West Senatorial District.

“The Accord leadership across the zones ratified the endorsements after a closed-door meeting.

“The names of the endorsed aspirants have been forwarded to the state leadership of the party for approval,” he said.

Akande said the preferred aspirants would obtain nomination forms from the party’s secretariat.

He further said that incumbent members of the House of Representatives and the State House of Assembly had been cleared in their respective constituencies.

The chairman also said the party endorsed Pelumi Olajengbesi for Ijesa North Federal Constituency, Popoola Ibrahim for Ijesa South Federal Constituency, and Tosin Eluwole for Ife Federal Constituency as new entrants.(NAN)
