Awka, Jan. 22, 2026 (NAN) The Nigerian Army has restated its commitment to collaborate with the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to enhance security operations in Anambra.
The Commander, 302 Artillery Regiment (General Support) Cantonment, Onitsha, Col. Butrus Yakubu, made this known on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the NSCDC State Command Headquarters in Awka.
Yakubu said that effective synergy among security agencies was critical to intelligence sharing, coordination and swift response to emerging security threats in the state.
According to him, the visit was aimed at familiarising himself with the NSCDC command and strengthening collaboration in areas of intelligence and information sharing, operational access, and other necessary security cooperation.
“The Nigerian Army is committed to collaborating with and supporting the NSCDC whenever the need arises,” he said.
Yakubu commended the NSCDC for its contributions to security in the state, particularly through its Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), which he said had enhanced security stability.
In his response, the NSCDC State Commandant, Mr Olatunde Maku, appreciated the continued support of the Nigerian Army to the corps in the discharge of its statutory mandates.
Maku underscored the importance of inter-agency collaboration in promoting peace, stability and operational effectiveness in Anambra.
“The NSCDC and the military have a long history of cooperation, including joint training of personnel.
“The collaboration also involved coordinated operations against vandalism of critical national, state and local government assets and infrastructure, as well as the fight against illegal oil bunkering and related crimes.
“No single security agency can effectively eliminate crime and criminality without sustained synergy and collaboration,” he said.
The commandant assured the Army commander of the NSCDC’s commitment to sustaining and strengthening the existing partnership between both organisations.(NAN)
