The Benue government says it has made adequate arrangement to improve water supply in the state.

The General Manager, Benue State Water Board, Mr. Gideon Shenge, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Makurdi on Tuesday that all areas covered with the existing reticulation would start witnessing improved water supply.

Shenge said that the government had already acquired trucks of chemicals for water treatment, procured diesel and paid outstanding NEPA bills for Makurdi and Otukpo water works for improved water supply.

He said that the board had also fixed few pipe challenges at civil service and north areas for optimal water supply within the state capital.

Shenge explained that the Katsina-ala Water Works was still under the maintenance of the contractor, therefore, he could not know much about it.

“This is a general problem not only in our sector. Our people don’t like paying for public utilities. Though there is a minor improvement on the payment. Many are people owing the board.

“We have resolved to follow it step by step and by the Grace of God; we will recover all the debts with time,” he said.(NAN).
