Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State says commissioner-nominees in the state will write mandatory integrity and aptitude tests to ascertain their suitability.

The governor said this in a statement on Monday.

He said: “The nominees will have to write integrity and aptitude tests before their names will be forwarded to the State House of Assembly for confirmation.”

The statement, signed by Christian Ita, the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, was obtained by the News Agency of Nigeria.

It said chairmen and members of boards and agencies as well as special advisers would also be subjected to aptitude tests.

He said: “All appointees in the state must be subjected to ethical measurements to ascertain whether or not they can function in the new order.”

The statement said accountability and transparency remained the watchwords of the administration.

It also announced the appointment of a committee chaired by an Abuja-based lawyer, Paul Erokoro, to oversee the selection process.
