An Oyo State High Court in Ibadan, on Tuesday, discharged and acquitted one Afeez Akintola, 29, earlier remanded in April, over alleged manslaughter.
Justice Oluwaseun Ademola-salami remanded Akintola in a correctional facility without taking his plea and adjourned pending issuance of legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).
When the case was called on Tuesday, Ademola-salami said the legal advice dated May 19, absolved Akintola of the offence.
She therefore discharged and acquitted the defendant.
The State Prosecution Counsel, Mr Oluwafemi Akinlotan, alleged that the defendant committed the offence on April 4, at about 4.00 p.m., at Imini Village, Oyo town.
He alleged that the defendant shot one Olalekan Adeshina with a dane gun.
The offences, the prosecutor said, was contrary to Section 316 and punishable under Section 319 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.(NAN)
