Delta State Commissioner for Higher Education, Dr. Kingsley Ashibogwu, has congratulated the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for winning the last Saturday’s gubernatorial and State House of Assembly election.
In a statement issued by his office, Dr. Ashibogwu felicitated with the Governor-Elect, His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, for the victory and noted that the emergence of Oborevwori, who was the PDP candidate in the Saturday election, was an affirmation of the people’s confidence in the PDP and his candidature.
According to Dr. Ashibogwu, Oborevwori’s victory at the polls had renewed the hope of Deltans to continue to reap the fruits of democracy, saying that with Oborevwori’s MORE agenda, Delta State would be better governed.
The Higher Education Commissioner expressed his gratitude to the electorates in the State for the confidence reposed on the Governor-Elect and his Deputy, Sir. Monday Onyeme, to pilot the affairs of the state in the next political dispensation. He also assured Deltans that they have elected humble leaders that will not disappoint them.
Dr. Ashibogwu used the opportunity to thank members of staff of the ministry of higher education, students, students union, academic and non-academic staff, heads of various institutions, and the good people of Ndokwa East for their support. He noted that Delta State’s political trajectory was on a forward movement.
The victory of Oborevwori has come as a welcome development to the PDP, who won in both the gubernatorial and State House of Assembly elections in the state. With the MORE agenda set to take center stage, the people of Delta State will be looking forward to the new administration’s plans for the state.
