The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has ordered a re-election in nine polling units at Ganaja Village in Ajaokuta Local Government Area of Kogi State. The decision was taken due to some logistical problems that made it impossible to hold the scheduled elections in those units.

Alhaji Haliru Sule, Kogi INEC Head of Voters Education and Publicity, disclosed the information to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lokoja on Sunday. Sule further stated that election materials and officials had already been redeployed to the area early on Sunday morning for the election.

Sule explained that the presidential and National Assembly elections could not hold in Ganaja Village on Saturday due to logistical challenges. Despite efforts to hold the elections on the same day, it was not possible, and hence, the decision was made to shift it to Sunday.

Dr. Hale Longpet, the State Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), has given the go-ahead for the election to hold on Sunday, Feb. 26, to avoid disenfranchisement of voters.

Sule encouraged the people of Ganaja Village to turn out in large numbers and participate in the election without any interruption. This re-election is crucial and the commission wants every eligible voter to exercise their franchise.
