Katsina, Jan. 24, 2026 (NAN) The Katsina Restoration Vanguard has disowned its Chairman following his defection from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
The leaders of the group from the three Senatorial Zones of the state, announced this while briefing newsmen in Katsina on Saturday.
The group was founded by the former Governor, Aminu Masari, and Chaired by his former Protocol Officer, Almustapha Abdu-Saulawa.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), recalls that recently, Abdu-Saulawa announced his defection from the APC to the opposition ADC.
The Coordinator of the group from Funtua Zone, Abdulkadir Yusuf, said all the members from the zone were still behind the founder of the vanguard.
According to him, when Masari was leaving office, he handed over the restoration vanguard to the present leadership of Gov. Dikko Radda.
“I wish to inform you that we’re fully in support of the present administration of APC in Katsina, and at the national level,” he said.
The Coordinator from Daura Zone, Jamilu Daura, said the chairman’s decision to defect was taken without their knowledge, therefore, “he was on his own.”
He stated that Abdu-Saulawa was no longer recognised as the chairman, stressing that the group remained loyal to the APC and unwaveringly committed to its original mandate.
According to him, the group will continue its activities under a new leadership, adding that personal political decisions should not be mistaken for the collective position of the group.
Also, representing the group members from Katsina Zone, its Coordinator, Kabir Gululu, admitted that only two out of the 14 Chairmen from the zone followed the defector.
He assured the youths in the zone that the group was still firm, and there was no cause for alarm, as the decision by their chairman ran contrary to the principles and objectives of the vanguard.
Gululu called on its members and supporters to remain calm and focused, assuring them that the group remained united in spite of the obnoxious the development. (NAN)
