The National Union of Local Government Employees on Monday cancelled its planned three-day warning strike over Senate’s refusal to vote in favour of autonomy for local governments.
The House of Representatives last week voted in favour of autonomy for local governments as part of their ongoing constitutional amendment.
Malam Ibrahim Khaleel, the National President of the union, who announced the cancellation of the strike in Abuja, said the decision followed the intervention of the leadership of the National Assembly.
Khaleel said the leadership of the National Assembly had shown concern and interest in the union, particularly in its struggle for autonomy.
