Raggae musician Majekodunmi Fasheke (fondly known as ‘Majek Fashek’) is dead.

The news was broken via Social Media by his long-time manager Umenka Uzoma in the early hours of Tuesday.

The late musician, known for his hits – Send down the Rain, Mother,Redemption Song, Genesis, Holy Spirit, So Long, amongst others – ruled the Nigerian and African airwaves for a huge swath of his career, before he left the shores of Nigeria for the United States.

“Today, been having pressure calls, well it is true that the African No 1 Legendary ICON has gone to be with the LORD his Maker.

“Let celebrate him, his achievements, and his family, whatever decisions made by his immediate family will be notified,” he wrote.

The late Fashek was one of the biggest music exports from this part of the world in the late ‘80s and the early ‘90s.

However, things took a different turn as he went on a self-exile which according to reports were because of failing health and personal issues.
