An Area Court in Jos on Tuesday, sentenced one Felix Obed to 18 months imprisonment for trespassing and stealing a door worth N55,000.
The Judge, Hannatu Ashom, sentenced the convict after he pleaded guilty to the offence.
Ashom, however, gave the convict an option of N60, 000 fine or six months imprisonment for trespass and an option of N70, 000 fine or 12 months imprisonment for theft, both to run concurrently.
Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Ibrahim Gokwat, told the court that the case was reported at the “A” Division Police station on April 24, by Mr Adekera Shighekuma.
He said that the complainant accused the convict of trespassing into his company and stealing a door worth N55, 000.
He further told the court that during police investigation, the convict confessed to have committed the offence.
According to the prosecutor, the offence contravened the Plateau State Penal Code law of Northern Nigeria, 2017.(NAN)
