Gusau, Nov. 23, 2023 (NAN) A Zamfara-based NGO, Voluntary Aid Initiative (VAI), has concluded a sensitisation programme for 400 community members in Zamfara on how to access justice, to ensure promotion of peace and stability.
The Executive Director of the NGO, Musa Umar, disclosed this to newsmen in Gusau on Wednesday.
Umar said the programme took place in Birnin Magaji, Nasarawa Godel, Tsafe and Bilbis communities of Birnin-Magaji and Tsafe local government areas of the state.
“A total of 400 members from the four communities participated in the programme, ” Umar explained.
He noted that the exercise was aimed at encouraging people at the grassroots to always seek for justice.
“The sensitisation events were conducted in collaboration with Ukaid funded organisation, International Alert, under a project – Promoting Stability, Access to Justice and Accountability.
“The participants were sensitised by various facilitators to how to cooperate in addressing the problems related to GBV among others in their communities aimed at ensuring access to justice,” Umar added.
Umar further noted that the programme was for the campaign to address the barriers related to Sexual and Gender-Based Violence and other problems at community levels.
“We really appreciate the turnout of the participants during the sensitisation in the four communities.
“The participants are expected to cascade the knowledge acquired from the program to their respective homes and localities,” Umar explained. (NAN)
