NGO urges collaborative efforts to end violence against women

Bukola Onyishi, the Country Director of Women for Women International-Nigeria (WfWI-N), has called on stakeholders to collaborate toward ending Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the society.

Onyishi made the call in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Tuesday in Jos.

The country director, who decried the surge in violence against women, also urged Nigerians to join the fight against the menace.

She said that one in three women faced some forms of sexual or physical violence, stating that ending the menace was possible.

“One in three women face some form of sexual or physical violence; that number has not changed in over a decade

“And perhaps you were not part of the history for the elimination of violence against women in the last 30 years.

“You have that opportunity now, so join the campaign to be part of the future.

“A world without violence against women is possible; together our voices can make a difference, “she said.

Onyishi said WFWI-N would continue to work assiduously toward ending the menace in the society.

She also said that the organization would not rest until violence against women was reduced to the barest minimum in the society. (NAN)
