Rivers crisis: Prophet Ikuru releases message to Wike, Fubara

RUMUEPRIKOM – The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has defended his decision to support Siminalayi Fubara as the governor of Rivers State, emphasizing that it was aimed at ensuring unity within the state. Speaking at a New Year luncheon in his country home, Wike revealed how he urged other contenders, including former Rivers PDP Chairman Felix Obuah, to step aside for Fubara, a move intended to foster inclusivity.

Wike recounted how he invited Obuah, a strong contender, to drop his governorship ambition and become the Director-General for the campaign. Despite facing challenges, including the seizure of his property, Obuah stood firm, showing resilience in the face of adversity.

The Minister urged Nigerians to focus on unity, dispelling any notions of betrayal. He stressed that political decisions were made to benefit the entire state and promote a sense of collective progress.

Wike affirmed his commitment to implementing the peace agreement brokered by political leader Bola Tinubu in resolving the Rivers State political crisis. He vowed to adhere to President Tinubu’s call for peace and cooperation.

The Minister concluded by urging politicians to prioritize making a positive impact on people’s lives and to reject divisive actions.
