The news of demise of veteran singer and songwriter, Olanrewaju Fasasi has been confirmed by his family.
The lyricist whose music was always lettered for posterity passed away today at the age of 44, after he lost the battle to a medical condition called: “Angioimmunoblastic T–cell lymphoma (AITL)”, a rare form of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which is a group of related malignancies (cancers) that affect the lymphatic system (lymphomas).

AITL can also cause symptoms such as skin rashes or inflammation of the joints. This is because the cancerous T cells (T-cells are white blood cells that helps the body fight infection) produce abnormal proteins that the body reacts negatively to.
His elder brother, Dare “Baba Dee” Fasasi had denied back in May that the illness was not throat cancer, but confirmed Lanre was sick and was receiving treatment in the U.S.
But Lanre somehow knew he wouldn’t survive it, from the cryptic posts he dropped on Instagram, especially asking people to celebrate him while he was alive and not after he was gone.

Sound Sultan, a devout Muslim is survived by his wife, three children and his siblings.
His family says they will appreciate utmost privacy as they come to grips with the tragic loss.
