Police Command in Enugu State has arrested a suspect over the alleged theft of a tricycle in the Trans-Ekulu axis of Enugu metropolis.

A statement by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Daniel Ndukwe, on Monday in Enugu, said that the suspect, 30, was apprehended in possession of the tricycle on April 18.

Ndukwe said that the arrest of the suspect followed a report by the custodian of the tricycle, who discovered the vehicle missing around 6:00a.m. on the fateful day.

“Upon receipt of the report, operatives were swiftly mobilized, and the information was circulated through the command’s control room, leading to the recovery of the tricycle on Nike Road, Abakpa-Nike, Enugu, within hours of the incident.

“The suspect has confessed to the crime and attributed his action to hardship.

“He will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” the PRO said.

Ndukwe quoted the Commissioner of Police, Mr Mamman Giwa, as lauding the operatives for their prompt response, which led to the apprehension of the suspect and recovery of the tricycle.

The CP reiterated earlier call on vehicle owners to adopt basic security measures to safeguard their property and reaffirmed the command’s unwavering commitment to the protection of lives and property. (NAN)
