Sen. Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara West) is set to distribute 358 trucks of assorted foodstuffs.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the items to be distributed include rice, millet, sugar, and maize.
Ibrahim Muhammed, Chairman, Publicity Committee of A A Yari Political Organization, made the disclosure in a statement made available to newsmen in Gusau on Sunday.
He said the food, which was meant to help people observe the fast of the holy month of Ramadan, would be distributed to all, regardless of political leaning.
According to him, arrangements have been perfected under the A Yari Political Organization led by Lawal Limana, and a total of 17,500 households are expected to benefit.
Muhammad assured that 13 out of 14 local government areas of the state would benefit from the gesture.
He explained that more than 98 percent of the items were successfully transported to various local government areas of the state, “making it easy for the beneficiaries to get their own share in good time.”
The chairman of the publicity committee identified the beneficiaries of the palliatives to include the needy, orphans, widows, and divorcees.
While assuring that distribution would begin on or before the holy month of Ramadan, Muhammad urged people to pray for the former governor, the state, and the country at large. (NAN)
