January 6, 2024: Leipzig, Germany – RB Leipzig’s coach Marco Rose has voiced support for forward Timo Werner’s desire for a loan move, acknowledging it as the right decision. Reports suggest that the 27-year-old is on the verge of making a return to the Premier League with Tottenham.

Werner, who has only managed two Bundesliga goals this season, appears set to join Tottenham for the remainder of the campaign. Having previously scored 23 goals in 89 appearances for Chelsea, the German international made a £45-million move in 2020, only to return to Leipzig in 2022.

Speaking to Sky Deutschland, Coach Marco Rose stated that a loan arrangement could prove beneficial for Werner, potentially securing his spot in Germany’s squad for the upcoming Euro 2024, hosted on home soil.

“It’s only right that Timo wants to go out on loan. Timo would like to go to the European Championship,” remarked Rose. “We wish him all the best, and we’re crossing our fingers for him.”

In June 2020, Chelsea FC announced the signing of Werner, who subsequently returned to the Bundesliga in 2022 after agreeing to rejoin RB Leipzig. The striker, initially on a four-year deal, aims to make a significant impact in the Premier League once again as he eyes a loan move to Tottenham for the rest of the season.
