Abuja, Jan. 21, 2026 (NAN) A 55-year-old security guard, Mohammed Aminu, on Wednesday, appeared before a Magistrates’ Court in Asokoro, Abuja, in answer to charges bordering on alleged defilement of a teenager.
The defendant who resides at No._3, Kado, in the FCT, is standing trial on a two-count charge bordering on abduction and committing unnatural offences.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecutor A. A. Adeyeju, alleged that the defendant abducted the minor aged 15 years, since Dec. 15, 2025, adding that all efforts to trace the child had proved abortive.
Adeyeju alleged that, the minor was eventually, found in custody of the defendant on Jan. 13, and it was discovered that the defendant had been having unlawful carnal knowledge of the minor.
He said that the matter was reported at the Maitama Police Station in FCT on same Jan. 13, by the mother of the child, one Hussina Ibrahim.
According to him, the offence contravenes the provisions of sections 273 and 284 of the Penal Code .
The Magistrate, Mr Abdulmajeet Onyangi, granted the defendant bail in the sum of five million naira, with two sureties in like sum.
The court held that the sureties must each have a verified identification, as well as letters of introduction from their employers.
He adjourned the case untill Jan. 23, for trial.(NAN)
