Abuja, Dec.10, 2026 (NAN) The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has conducted a sensitisation exercise for Project Affected Persons (PAPs), in partnership with the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Federal Ministry of Finance.

The company said that the sensitisation programme was aimed at educating communities, on the proposed reconstruction and upgrade of the Alaoji-Onitsha 330 Kilo Volt (kV) Single Circuit Transmission Line.

TCN’s General Manager, Public Affairs, Mrs Ndidi Mbah, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday in Abuja.

She said that the exercise, ran from Jan. 6 until Jan. 8, and covered 12 Local Government Areas (LGAs), along the transmission line corridor in Abia, Imo and Anambra states.

According to her, TCN Project Manager, Mrs Omobola Sobo, had explained that the AfDB-funded project involves upgrading the existing Alaoji–Onitsha transmission line, to a quad circuit configuration, using advanced quad conductors.

Sobo said that the upgrade would double the line’s capacity, and consequently, improve electricity supply reliability, to meet growing consumer demand.

Meanwhile, she said that the Assistant General Manager, Health, Safety and Environment of TCN, Mr Aromeh Adole, also described the exercise as a critical step ahead of the planned payment of compensation to PAPs.

“This was to ensure public safety within the transmission line corridor during the construction exercise,” Adole had said.

According to her, Adole had also assured that all affected property owners would receive appropriate compensation in line with approved guidelines, following completion of the final verification process.

According to her, he had hinted that the company will collaborate with an environmental management power generation, and consultancy firm, PGM, to facilitate clearing of the transmission line. (NAN)
