Tension continued to heighten as the countdown continued towards the governorship election in Edo State, when men from the Federal Police from Abuja, as ordered by the suspended national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC),Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, beseiged and sealed off the Edo State Assembly.
Quick News Africa understands that the ‘imported’ cops replaced the officers from the Edo State Police Command stationed at the Anthony Enahoro Complex of the Edo State House of Assembly.
The move, it was gathered, was preparatory to plots to take over the Assembly complex, which is undergoing reconstruction, with a view to illegally inaugurate 14 dissident members-elect, whose seats have long been declared vacant, so as to take control of the Assembly.
The speaker of the house had,on Wednesday, alleged that the APC was planning a violent take-over of the state assembly by importing a fake mace through the Imo State governor Hope Uzodinma and impeached former speaker of the house,Hon. Yekini Idiaye.
A retired Deputy Clerk in the Assembly Samuel Efezokhae was said to have been mobilised to administer the oaths to inaugurate the dissident members-elect.
