The Adamawa State House of Assembly on Wednesday confirmed the appointment of Deputy clerk of the house, Alhaji Umar Hamid, as the substantive clerk to House of Assembly.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that confirmation of the clerk followed a notification letter forwarded to the house by the Assembly Service Commission and read on the floor of the house by the Speaker, Aminu Abbas, in Yola.

The motion to that effect was moved by the majority leader of the house, Hammantukur Yettisuri, of Jada Mbulo constituency, and seconded by Minority leader, Muhammad Mutawalli of Gieri.

Abbas put the motion for his confirmation and this was unanimously supported by the lawmakers present after considering the wealth of experience of Hamid while serving in various capacities in the house.

Meanwhile, the Speaker of the house, Aminu Abbas, has constituted a five-man committee, headed by the member representing Verre Constituency, Alhaji Abdullahi Yapak, to look into the General regulations for the management of funds in the State Assembly.

Other members of the committee are Isa Yahya of Maiha, Simon Isa of Song, Alhassan Hammanjoda of Ganye and Ibrahim Italiya of Mayo Belwa constituency (NAN)
